The Team

chris-freeChris is a Principal and co-founder of Rapport Benefits Group, a cutting-edge employee benefits consulting firm in Tacoma, Washington. Chris has been working with employers for over 10 years, assisting with everything from designing innovative benefit plans to taxation, implementation, and utilization. In addition to direct consulting, he works with insurance companies, accountants, and care providers to create new, more efficient healthcare finance models.

Chris serves as the Immediate Past-President for the Washington Association of Health Underwriters. He is serving a second term as an appointed member of the Washington State Insurance Commissioner’s Producer Advisory Committee and previously served on the Technical Advisory Committee for the Washington State Healthcare Authority’s Health Insurance Partnership (HIP). He also serves as the Chair of the Health Committee for the Washington Business Alliance to create innovative new models for care and care finance with the goal of making Washington the healthiest State in the Nation. Chris also serves on the board of directors for HopeSparks, a non-profit organization created to provide counseling services to low income families.

She works with Ballard High School and St. Vincent de Paul in a variety of programs aimed at education.

Having over eight years’ experience as a Human Resource Director managing the company’s self-funded health plan for 600 employees in four different states, then moving on to building self-funded health plans with third party administrators; Jan’s experiences have given her the ability to identify the needs of the client, develop the right solution and see it through. Consulting with small, medium, and large employer groups on healthcare options for their employees makes her job worthwhile. Jan believes that “companies know what they make; it’s not their job to know what kind of insurance to offer for their employees, that’s my job.”

Building customized employer sponsored health plans creates unique and cost saving alternatives to traditional health insurance. Jan has worked with large municipalities with over 1,200 employee lives down to small 75 employee life privately held law firms as well as several non-profit agencies to include; medical practices, early childhood development, and public defenders. She has also worked with medical practices integrating their own tier of healthcare treatment to off-set the cost of re-insurance. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from City University.

Specialties: Understanding and developing health plans that not only satisfy the needs of the participants but also cost effective solutions to today’s healthcare needs for employers.

She is a member of The National Association of Health Underwriters, The Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber, and Society of Human Resource Management.

Venus has volunteered with many local non-profits to include the Washington State PTA and Tacoma Communities in Schools.  With this passion for education, she recently joined the new SOAR academy as their Enrollment Team Coordinator.
